For most of my young life, I didn’t care much about my appearance, and grooming wasn’t much of a big deal for me. However, as I grew older, I developed more concern about my appearance and hygiene. In my quest for improving my hygiene and looks, I learned the hygiene tips below;

 

Face, hair, and teeth

 

Your face and hair is the first thing that people see when they look at you. For this reason, you must maintain a good appearance at all times. The following hair and face grooming tips would come in handy;

 

1. Wash your face twice per day

 

You would think a tip like washing the face would come as common sense to all men. However, while most men wash their face in the morning, most of them do not do it at night. Unlike women, you do not need soaps, body gels or scrubs on your face. Using such products tends to strip the skin of essential moisture and upset its natural PH balance. This results in dryness and irritation. Instead, use a mild facial cleanser that is designed for men. Do it in the morning and evening before you go to bed. If you have to scrub your face, do it once a week or after two weeks and use scrubbing products that are made using natural ingredients.

 

2. Brush your teeth and floss daily

 

Brushing the teeth only does not cut it. You need to pay attention to your tongue, and the sensitive areas between your teeth that need flossing. You want to make sure that your teeth and breath does not turn off people around you. Invest in the right toothbrush and floss. According to experts, a rotating brush is more effective as it removes more plaque than the conventional one. It also helps to reduce and prevent the occurrence of problems. You may also want to use mouthwash after brushing in the morning.

 

3. Become a regular at the barber’s

 

Visiting the barbershop should become a habit, especially if your hair tends to grow at a faster rate. You also want to invest in shaving products for facial hair. A good beard trimmer would go a long way. Make sure to couple the trimmer with shaving cream for better effect.

At first, I found it extremely hard to choose between the many hair products in the market. However, the salespersons in the stores always came in handy. Make sure to wash and moisturize your hair a couple of times per week. Avoid washing your hair daily as the hair products tend to strip the hair of its natural oils and moisture. Your washing routine also depends on your type of hair. Invest in a good brush and comb if you are one who keeps long hair. And always research the best care techniques for your hair.

 

Body

 

The following are body grooming tips that would come in handy;

 

1. Shower twice per day

 

The basic rule of hygiene is taking a shower. Make sure to shower in the morning at night. Taking a bath once would be a good idea if you have not had a rough day at work. However, if you work for more than 12 hours per day or if your job involved a lot of physical strain, you would benefit from taking a shower twice per day.

 

2. Clip your nails

 

Make sure also to clip your finger and toenails often. Neat and well-groomed nails tend to be attractive, especially to the opposite sex. Cutting the nails also helps to prevent illnesses caused by the dirt that is collected beneath the nails. 3. Manscaping

Manscaping is not something that all men do. However, trimming hair in every part of the body is an excellent grooming tip. It also depends on the rate at which your hair grows and whether or not you have a lot of hair.

According to experts, most men do not change their underwear as often as they should. The right thing to do is to change your underwear daily. It would also be wise to do so after a workout.

 

5. Use some hand and body lotion.

 

You also need to invest in some incredible hand and body lotion. Hand and body lotions help to smoothen and moisturize the skin. The products also help to keep the skin from cracking and dryness. I found that men’s skincare products are beneficial. Before then, I always thought that there was no diversity in the male cosmetics industry until I started doing my research. The market is packed with a wide variety of hand and body lotions from which you can choose. If your lotion does double as a moisturizer, you can always purchase a separate one.

 

If you have calluses on your hands and feet, a hand and feet cream may come in handy. However, if the calluses are extremely tough, you may benefit from using a callus shaver or pumice stone. If you decide to do so, make sure to only focus on the hard calluses and protect the softer parts of your skin by all means. Moisturizing at night would also help to get rid of the hard surfaces.
